I reached another important date in my life. I celebrated “another birthday” – 12 years cancer FREE today.

Cancer is the best and the worst thing that ever happened to me.

Here are a few lessons I learned from cancer.

I decided to love myself, just as I am. Perfectly, imperfect. I now know, I am enough. I always was.Loving myself means:

  1. Taking care of myself. It is not selfish, it is self-care. Self-Care is my TOP priority.
  2. Listening to myself. I trust my gut and follow my heart. My opinion matters the most.
  3. Choosing to forgive myself. Forgiveness is a mindset. The past is the past, today is the only moment we have.

I have also learned to:

  • Fail Fast – perfection is a set up and it is unachievable.
  • Take care of the important things today, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Buy the shoes, eat the cake, say I
love you, help others when you can.
  • Be a student of life, there is always more to learn, I don’t stop being curious.
  • Embrace hope, it is a wonderful thing!
  • Accept happiness is a choice. My choice.

Here is a reframe, it is not “if we are going to go through something, it is when”. I will leave you with my favorite
quote.

“You’re Braver than you Believe & Stronger than you Seem & Smarter than you Think.”
